Is the Bible True?

Is There Any Evidence That the Bible Is True?

Evidence From Prophesy

Precise predictions of future events, (prophecies) have been fulfilled exactly.  Jesus' identity, his name, birthplace, triumphal entry, betrayal, suffering, death and burial - all were foretold in the Old Testament, seven hundred years before He was born.  And Jesus fulfilled more than 300 prophecies!

God's prophet's predicted the downfall of many nations-Ammon, Edom, Moab, Philistia-and cities such as Babylon, Nineveh, Tyre and Sidon.  And not one of them exists today!

Isaiah predicted the birth of king Cyrus, 150 years before his birth, told his name and that he would  release the Jews from captivity.

Prophecy stands as a strong witness that the Bible is true!

Evidence from Archaeology

The Bible refers to the Hittite people 36 times.  No record outside the Bible has affirmed their existence however, excavations in Turkey show evidence the Hittite Empire existed.

Ebla tablets discovered in Syria include names of Ur, Sodom and Gomorrah, cities that Bible opponents say never existed.

Archaeologists have uncovered Assyrian artifacts that record the names of all the Assyrian kings referenced in the Bible.

Evidence from Impact

Unlike any other book written by a mere human, the Bible can transform people's lives, make people good inside, and give them peace forgiveness and purpose.

It gives hope to the spiritually hopeless, life to the spiritually dead and deliverance to the enslaved.

Evidence from Science

For centuries, scientists did not understand the phenomenon that water evaporates from the ocean, collects in clouds and falls on the earth as rain or snow.

Yet Job 26:8, 36:27-28 and Ecclesiastes 1:7 speaks of this cycle.

Several hundred years before Christ, Isaiah wrote about the circular shape of the earth and centuries before that, Job said the the earth suspended on nothing.  Up until a few centuries ago, people believed the earth as flat.

The Bible's Central Message

The Bible is focused on the problem of sin and God's answer.

Jesus died on the cross to deal with sin.  He carried our sins on the cross so that we may have salvation by trusting Him as our Savior.

Because the Bible can be trusted, Jesus can be trusted.  Jesus said "I am the way the truth and the life"  He is the only way to God.  By trusting Him, you can find salvation and peace in Christ.

How to Become a Christian

1.  Acknowledge that you are a sinner.  "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God."
Romans 3:23

2.  Believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins and was resurrected.

Romans 5:8 and 1 Corinthians 15:3-4

3. Repent.  Turn from your sins and say this prayer:

"Dear Lord Jesus.  I know that I am sinful and need your forgiveness.  I believe you died and rose again to pay the penalty for my sin.  I ask you to come into my heart and I receive you as my Lord and Savior."
