What It Means To Be Saved

The Original Sin

The original sin is the first sin committed by Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. God told them not to eat of the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil and they disobeyed him and ate the forbidden fruit anyway.
Gen 3:1-7.

Wrong-doing has a penalty. The penalty for our sin is death, eternal separation from God.

In the old testament, God required spotless lambs to be sacrificed so that the shed blood would atone for people's sins and God would forgive them.

In the new testament, God provided a way for us to be forgiven without having to sacrifice animals.

God Loves You

God loves you and wants to have a relationship with you, no matter what you have done.

He loves you so much that he sent his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ into the world, to pay the penalty for our sins by taking our punishment upon himself.

Jesus shed his blood and died on the cross so that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.
John 3:16.

Jesus Christ is the spotless lamb because he was without sin.  He was crucified by people who didn't understand who He was or why He had come.

He willingly died on the cross in our place, fulfilling God's plan to redeem mankind,  even for the very people who nailed Him to the cross!

Though He was perfect and sinless, He took our sins upon Himself so that we can have a restored relationship with God the Father.
1 Peter 2:24.

Three days after He was crucified,  God raised Him back to life!

God raised Him from the dead just as we will be raised from the dead into eternal life.

The day will come when all people will stand before God on the Day of Judgment and give an account for their life.
Revelation 20:11-12

It's Your Choice

You can either accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior or reject him.  If you reject him you will pay the penalty for your sins yourself by spending eternity in hell forever, separated from God.
Revelation 20:15.

If you accept Jesus as your personal savior, today, God will accept His sacrificial death on your behalf.

Don't wait because it will be too late on the day of the final judgement to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior.

God loves you and wants you to spend eternity in heaven with Him.

He wants you to be set free from your past, from guilt and shame, from addiction and bondage to sin.

If you were to die tomorrow, where would you spend eternity?

Make the decision today to accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior.

Here's how:
  • Come to Him just as you are.  Don't wait till you change and stop sinning. You cannot change yourself.  Only God can change you.
  • Admit you have sinned.
  • Be willing to repent, turn from your sins.
  • Believe in your heart and mind that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died on the cross for you and was raised back to life and that He is the only way to God.
  • Invite Jesus to come into your heart and life and save you from your sins.
  • Receive Him as your Lord and Savior

Pray This Prayer:

“Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you.

I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you.

Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again.

I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer.

I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward.

Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life.

In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.”

You have received the forgiveness of God and are now accepted into His family!
Ephesians 1:15

You are now a new believer in Christ Jesus!

Welcome to God's family!

Now, as a way to grow closer to Him, the Bible tells us to follow up on our commitment.

"Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
Acts 2:38

From This Day Forward:
  • Get baptized as commanded by Christ.
  • Tell someone else about your new faith in Christ.
  • Spend time with God each day. It does not have to be a long period of time. Just develop the daily habit of praying to Him and reading His Word.
  • Ask God to increase your faith and your understanding of the Bible.
  • Seek fellowship with other followers of Jesus.
  • Develop a group of believing friends to answer your questions and support you.
  • Find a local church where you can worship God.

I am thrilled that you have made this decision, and I want to be a part of helping you to get to know God better.
